34 Arrested with Weapons from Masjid at Ghogha, Sandesh,

2002,Bhavnagar.
The communal riots which were limited to only cities, have
spread to small habitats of Gohilwad and villages, which has shocked the
administration. On order of the Collector and DSP, today the police
arrested 34 miscreants with assault-weapons, Chilly powder etc from
Barwada masjid of Ghogha, Dist. Bhavanagar, planning a conspiracy to
create communal unrest. The Police also arrested Hindu youths who were
trying to burn the godown and doors of Masjid. Along with Ghogha, riots
also spread to
village of Talaja
where a cabin belonging to a Muslim youth was burnt.
According to sources, yesterday, three persons were moving
suspiciously during night. They were caught & handed over to police.
Since police did not take any action for next 2 days, the matter was
represented to the Mamlatdar, who contacted the District Collector and
on his orders, the dangerous weapons were unearthed from a Masjid and
the criminals were arrested. According to police from the masjid from
where the weapons are seized, siren was being blown twice a day for
collecting the Muslims together. Due to this, Ghogha was under tension
for the whole day.
While the weapons are traced from Masjid of Ghogha, another
building being constructed near sea-shore is also in news. Somebody from
Surat is constructing this building and it is on Govt. land. It
has also come out that the man is keeping a boat which plies from Ghogha
to Pirambet, without any permission. With today’s incidence, this man
has run away. The local people have given all this information to the
District Collector. |
