3. Godhra Criminals – Kalota President Godhra Municipality and his Accomplices Arrested,

Sabarmati Express carrying karsevaks from Ayodhya was brutally attacked on the 27^th Feb. in which 58 people were burnt alive. The Municipal President of Godhra, Mohd. Husain Abdul Rahim Kalota and his associates have been arrested in a filmy manner by the police for being responsible for the riots that followed this carnage. The key culprit Parshad Haji Billal responsible for this carnage is still at large scot-free. The police is leaving no stone unturned to trace him out along with two of his associates. The police suspect that it is Kalota and two others who are the main culprits of this train carnage.

Riots started in the city immediately following the Sabarmati Express carnage. The whole city came under curfew following cases of arson, fire and looting at various places. The Municipal Pres. Mohammad Kalota was absconding after this debacle. In search of the mastermind of this carnage Parshad Billa Hazi, the police had to undertake house search of the Municipal Pres. Mohd. Hussain Kalota. In the mean time, on an information received by police that the culprit Kalota and his associates are hiding inside the house of Iqbal in Phoolan Bazar the Dy. S.P. Shri Chudasama of the anti-terrorist squad together with the inspector B. D. Rana of local crime branch conducted search of Iqbal’s house in a filmy style. To carry out this search operation in that multi storied building the police called for a ladder which is normally used by the employees of the Electricity Board. They managed to reach the upper stories of this house with its help and apprehended Mohd. Husain Kalota and his accomplices hiding there. They were (1) Suraj Ahmad Jomsa (2) Jabir Abdulla Kala (3) Abdul Gazi Ahmed Shaikh and (4) Abdul Ahmed Yaymat. They have been arrested on charge of violence that broke out following the Godhra carnage. The police suspect that all those 5 persons arrested along with Kalota were involved in the Godhra train carnage.

It is worth mentioning that the police had already arrested Parshad Abdul Rehman alias Dhatiya together with 22 other persons immediately after the riots broke out. All of them have been remanded to custody until the 13^th by the court.
