Godhra Terrorism Unmasked On the 27th Feb. 2002, innocent, unarmed karsevaks including women and children were burnt alive in the S-6 compartment of Sabarmati Express. From information available so far, the whole episode was preplanned. Had the train reached there as per its scheduled time, it was planned to burn the whole train near village Chanchelav. A mob of 2000 strong men with petrol bombs, enough quantity of kerosene, can not be mustered all at once. As per the investigating agencies, it is felt that the threads of all this operation appear to be pointing towards ISI involvement here. What followed afterwards, certainly point fingers towards a typical tendency. Purchase of aviation fuel in a particular locality, installing live electric wires at the gates of a girls school with a view to organise mass killings, an effort to burn a public transport bus loaded with passengers, a repeat action like Godhra to burn the LIC office, are all the actions which speak of organised terroristic mentality. The mastermind behind this plan are those people of terroristic mentality who had the courage to carry out an attack on the Parliament House. Their intention was not only to burn the karsewaks but in a wider effect, they wanted to spread unrest in the country and to destabilize it through insurrections within the country. The army be required to be shifted from the Indo-Pak boarders and to tarnish the international image of Bharat as also to increase the inimical rift between the Hindus and Muslims. All this was a wisely planned action. In the words of Hiranmay Karlekar “it may not be difficult to find out who would be responsible for these plans and the convictions on which they are based.” One of these is certainly that this episode will probably succeed in spreading communal riots at least in sensitive states like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, if not throughout the country.
One of the intentions
could be that the wide spread riots may compel withdrawal of Army from the
boarders in order to establish peace in the hinterland. This will prove to
be a boon for Pakistan. Ahmedabad Madhukar Andhare
