12. 55 kg RDX Confiscated in Last 8 Months in

In the last 8 months 55 Kg. 220 Gms. of RDX was confiscated
in different parts of
Gujarat. (This RDX was found mainly near Santalpur and
Varahi of Patan District in
North Gujarat and in Hajipur Dargah of Katchha District.) The
police has blamed Shah Nawaj Abdul Gaffar of Lashkar-e-Toiba a
Pakistan based
terrorist outfit, for this catch of RDX hidden in the Hajipur Dargah
under the jurisdiction of Nara police station located in Kutch dist. and
from Santalpur and Varahi in Patan district of North Gujarat.
Investigations against Shah Nawaj Abdul Gaffar Bhatti and 16 others have
begun after their arrests. While giving the above information Shri
Gordhanbhai Zadapia the state Home Minister has indicated that police
are searching for the three unknown Pakistani infiltrators apart from
Ajam Cheena.
Gujarat Govt. has been successful in finding out this RDX
brought in during the last two years with an objective of carrying out
explosions at various places in Bharat. While illucidating this point
the State Minister for Home said that during year 2000, the police had
caught 22 kg. RDX lying unclaimed in Khawda area of Kutch Dist.
After that 32 Kg. of RDX was caught in
Nara area of Kutch
where in along with Shah Nawaj Bhatti, seven others were charge sheeted.
In Oct. 2002 on Road from Santalpur to Radhanpur in Patan
Dist. the CBI (New Delhi)
has caught 14 Kg. of RDX. Four persons were apprehended whereas as in
2001, on the National High way, 17 Km. from Varahi in Patan Dist. 5 Kg.,
200 Gms. of RDX was recovered which was hidden underground. This was
obtained by the CBI Gandhinagar and the anti-terrorist squad of
Ahmedabad.
4 kg 200 gms. of RDX was recovered from three residents of
Surat who had
connections with a terrorist outfit of Pakistan viz. Harkate-ul-Jehadi
Islami. They were apprehended at Dabhol in Navsari Dist. of South
Gujarat. In this connection, Inamul Huq, Fazalu Huq, Banarasi, Husain
Ahmed Mohammad Ali Maniyar and Asad Ahmed Munshi were arrested. This
catch did not include only RDX but also had large quantities of other
explosive materials, fire arms with ammunition and narcotics.
While disclosing this, the state minister of Home further
told that during the year 2002, 102 rounds of 30 bore pistol, 8 timer
pencils, 2 wireless hand sets, 7 remote switch boxes and such other
material was confiscated. Whereas in Kutch, in the year 2001, 2 AK 56
rifles, 296 live rounds, 2 magzenes, 10 batteries, 10 hand grenades, 4
remote controls, 10 Electronic Detonators with red wires were recovered.
In Patan Dist., along with magzenes, 2 AK 56 rifles, 2 pistols with 6
magzenes, 2 radio sets, 524 rounds of AK 56 rifles, 296 rounds of
pistol, 4 remote control switches, 10 hand grenades, 2 rifle grenades, 1
rocket, 2 anti personal mines, two 30 bore pistols, 3 Magzenes, 10
rounds, 2 electronic timers and other material were caught. Whereas from
Dabol near Navsari 9 (30 mm) pistols, 83 rounds and 4 Electronic Timers
were recovered. Besides this, from Kutch, 7.5 kg Ganja, 11 kg 493 gm.
Poshtoda and 500 gms. charas was caught during the year 2000.
Reporting about the two instances of RDX catches, Shri
Zadapia told that the file of instances in the year 2000 for Kutch Dist.
is complete, whereas for the year 2002, charge sheets have been filed.
Both these matters are in the court at present. The Gandhinagar CBI and
ATS are investigating into the RDX catches from Patan during 2001.
The police officers
and their workers responsible for catching such risky explosives like
RDX etc., are being given commendations permissible under limits of the
Police Manual. Besides this, the state Govt. has also declared prizes
for encouragement to them. |
