COMMUNITY CENTRE

Killer earthquake rocked Gujarat on 26th January 2001. Sewa Bharati took the task of rehabilitation work on large scale through construction of villages and schools. After six months it was felt that Community Halls be constructed in several villages, which could serve as an essential social infrastructure for the people of the villages.

It is traditional to have some common place where people of the village could gather and discuss their problems of mutual interest for the betterment of their village. Sewa Bharati decided to have such centres in villages where such places could be a boon to villagers for their family matters as well as social activities. This facility promotes interaction between various castes of the people of the village and increases social harmony also.

The building consists of a big hall, 3 attached rooms, front stage and a huge open ground in front of the stage. This can be called a multi activity centre where national festivals, social fairs, happy and sorrow occasions of the village can be organised at one place. Other activities such as public health care, indoor games for small children, social welfare activities for ladies, co-operative milk dairy, public awareness activities library etc. can be taken up at this centre.

Activities can be expanded by running elder education school, kindergarten, satsang kendras etc. It thus serves as a multi activity common facility for the village. Total 31 such centres in various earthquake affected districts of Gujarat at the cost 140.00 lakhs have been built by Sewa Bharati.
