Our Objective

(2) To ensure comprehensive development of society.

(3) To undertake projects and programmes to promote self esteem and social equality and oneness of culture and religion amongst the tribal communities.

(4) To arrest separatist activities in tribal areas by promoting Nationalism.

(5) To arrest conversion undertaken by unscrupulous means under the pretext of medical and educational services as well as by alluring people through petty gains.

MEDICAL CAMPS : (A.D.2001-2002)
Every year in the month of Aug-Sept we organize medical camps in inaccessible tribal villages. Doctors, pharmacists and other volunteers from metropolitan cities undertake journeys to different villages with medicines. They stay with the villagers, eat with them and leave behind a sense of mutual attachment. Medical check-up is conducted and necessary medicines are administered. This year such camps were held in all the eight Vanvasi districts.

After the camps there was a review meeting of the doctors to exchange notes and to plan for better services in future.

EXPERIENCE IN TRIBAL LIEF AND CULTURE :
Volunteers from metropolitan cities of Vadodara and Surat organised tours in the tribal areas and witnessed various projects undertaken by the Vanvasi Kalyan Parishad. They participated in the cultural programmes organised by the students hostel, shared meals with the vanvasis in their houses and were their guests for the night stay. They experienced the hospitality of vanvasi brothers and had the pleasure of participating in Bhajan Kirtan at night. In all 125 Volunteers including their families participated in the experience and around forty five families in four villages provided the hospitality.

LIVE CONTACT WITH VANVASI VILLAGES & HOUSES :
Presently Vanvasi Society finds it difficult to retain its identity. As long as they are associated with their culture they remain proud of their heritage but a change in faith causes crisis of identity. In Dec.2001 a programme was undertaken to contact each and every Village, to create awakening amongst the youth about their culture and heritage so that they would not think of changing their culture and heritage. Nearly 305 volunteers participated and 352 villages were covered under this programme.

VANVASI CONGREGATIONS :
Vanvasis are getting organized. They now see the strength in their unity. More than 8000 vanvasi gatherers under the leadership of their spiritual leaders who called upon them to be proud of their culture and heritage and not to accept any alternative alien faith.

Resolutions were passed against an impression being created that vanvasis did not have a religion and against vested interests trying to deprive the vanvasis of the benefits granted to them by the government. News papers fulfilled their role of carrying these messages to the public.

All these efforts have resulted in vanvasi youths coming forward in a big way to protect their religion and to have a dialogue with members of the society who were converted to other faith. Their efforts resulted in 102 families from 8 villages consisting of 1304 men and women returning to their original faith.
