International Scenario and
Border Security of Bharat
The Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal expresses its satisfaction over
Bharat’s emergence on the diplomatic front as a nation rubbing shoulders
with strong and mighty world powers. India’s stock on the international
front has gone up in the last 5 years.
International diplomacy is all about protecting the interests of one’s
own nation and securing its integrity. On that touchstone first 5
decades after Independence had not been very encouraging. The political
leadership of our country had not displayed enough awareness and
sensitivity towards the security of our borders. It had resulted in
further shrinking of our borders after independence. A third of Jammu &
Kashmir State has been annexed by Pakistan illegally, of which it had
gifted a part to China too. China has occupied a large tract of land in
Ladakh region through aggression. It had occupied our neighbour Tibet
and then attacked us. Even today it is not ready to accept our
sovereignty over Sikkim and shows Arunachal Pradesh as a part of China
in its maps. It is expanding its diplomatic influence in Nepal and
Myanmar.
Bharat has always worked towards establishing good neighbourly relations
with all its neighbours. Our image in the international arena is also on
the same lines. However, the ABKM wants to caution the Government that
while pursuing the peace initiatives we need to be vigilant too, as the
track record of some of our neighbours has been anything but credible.
The ABKM is of the view that while dealing with Pakistan and China, we
can ignore these lessons of history only to our peril.
Peaceful co-existence of all countries in the world has been the basic
cultural characteristic of Bharat. We are aware that only a strong and
vibrant Bharat could sustain its unique position in the world. The ABKM
is of the opinion that Bharat’s emergence as a nuclear power has
enhanced its prestige. Yet, present global situation demands that Bharat
become stronger and more powerful.
The ABKM calls upon the Government to draft our policy towards our
neighbours in the light of 1994 unanimous resolution of the Bharat’s
Parliament in the context of the Pak-occupied-Kashmir and 1962
resolution of the Parliament of ‘winning back every inch of land’
occupied by China. The ABKM welcomes all the initiatives for peace with
our neighbours and trusts that no compromises will be made in respect of
our national integrity and sovereignty. In this context the ABKM wants
to make its view clear that any effort towards accepting the LOC on the
Indo-Pak front and LAC on the Indo-China front as the international
border will not be acceptable to the nation.
Bharat’s role during the Iraq war has displayed its superior
self-confidence and mature global vision. By insisting on UN mandate for
any action against Iraq, Bharat has reiterated its commitment to values
in international relations. The ABKM believes that the Government of
Bharat will uphold those cherished noble values in deciding its role in
post-war Iraq scenarios too.
The ABKM calls upon the Swayamsevaks to embark on enlightening our
countrymen about these issues of utmost importance for our national
integrity, self-respect, sovereignty and honour.
